Dancing on Concrete – Kurt Boone

$35.00

Kurt Boone is an author, poet, and photographer from New York City. He is known for his work documenting street culture; including graffiti, urban cycling, skateboarding, busking, and dance.

As a ninth grader in Queens, Kurt worked as a vendor at Shea Stadium, former home of the New York Mets and Jets. He and his brother sold hot dogs to summer baseball fans and hot chocolate to winter football fans. Later on, the pair started working at Yankee’s stadium. They rode the buses and trains a lot.

Kurt developed a deep appreciation for street culture from this young age, and, after forty plus years of traversing the city, a unique eye for life here. He has been taking photos for fifteen years and has amassed an archive of street photography.

For this collection, Kurt pulls from his archive to curate a showcase of dance in the city. From busking to breaking, this collection exemplifies the energy of New York City.
